Cricket Legend

Mike Hussey

Michael (Mike) Hussey or 'Mr Cricket' as he is affectionally known, is one of Australia's most valuable and popular former players.

Admired and respected for his dedicated approach to the game, Mike's first opportunity in the Australian Test team came in the 2005 / 2006 series against the West Indies. Within his first five Test matches Mike played his way to three centuries.

He made his mark on the international cricket scene after winning the One Day International Player of the Year at the 2006 Alan Border Medal and One Day International Player of the Year at the ICC Awards in November 2006.

Mike contributed to Starlight's mission as part of the Australian Test Team, generously donating a signed cricket bat to the 2010 Starlight Five Chefs Dinner auction in Melbourne.

Since then, Mike has continued to fundraise and support Starlight's programs, donating highly sought-after cricket coaching clinics and VIP tickets to cricket matches. He has also regularly supported Starlight by speaking at corporate partner events and our CEO Breakfast Series.

In 2014, Mike was the lead Ambassador for the Great Adventure Challenge a demanding and fun, multisport team based corporate adventure race and in 2018, Mike helped launch the brand-new Starlight Express Room at the Perth Children's Hospital.

Our warmest thanks to our Perth-based cricketing legend for his ongoing support as a Starlight Ambassador.
