Speedo helped raise awareness of the fundraising event by promoting the Super Swim through its own online and social channels and also many of its 30+ strong swim and surf ambassadors also posted across their social channels to their fans encouraging many people to get involved.

Using quality Speedo-branded merchandise as incentives for people to reach their fundraising targets, contributed to the success of the campaign.

Swimmers in the challenge were motivated to go the distance to win amazing Speedo prizes including caps and bags and they also enjoyed discounts on Speedo merchandise online.

In its inaugural year, the Starlight Super Swim Challenge made a splash with over 1,300 participants who collectively swam over 30,000 kms - that's just over one lap around the Australian coastline - and raised $401,000 to help over 10,200 sick kids in hospital.

In 2020 Super Swim blew all expectations out of the water when it grew by 80%. Almost 2,200 participants swam over 35,000 kms - adding a return trip to NZ on their lap around Australia - and raised $722,000 to help 18,500 sick kids in hospital. Those are some pretty hefty benchmarks to set for 2021, and beyond!

The Starlight Super Swim is the perfect partnership for Speedo because it inspires people to swim and it's for a fantastic cause. We can't think of anything better than for people putting on some swimmers and raising money for sick kids. The added benefit is the challenge means they are getting fitter too. All in all, a great initiative that Speedo is proud to support.
