Libby Trickett is a world record holding and Olympic gold medalist swimmer.
Libby's enormous contribution to Australian Swimming was recognised when she received a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2005.
Since then, her contribution to Australia goes far beyond her efforts in the pool. Her positivity and devotion to living life to its fullest has made Libby an ideal Starlight ambassador because she’s all about inspiring people to be the very best they can be.
Since joining Starlight as an ambassador in 2014, Libby has been the lead ambassador for the RBC Race for the kids as well as MC-ing the Starlight Five Chefs event in Brisbane multiple times. In 2018 she helped Starlight celebrate its 30-year anniversary with Virgin Australia in Sydney, bringing lots of smiles to sick kids and families, including another Libby, Starlight child.
Libby's also proudly supported Starlight Day and in 2019 endorsed Starlight's Super Swim, encouraging fundraisers to get behind the challenge to raise vital funds for sick kids across January/February.
Libby is very passionate about mental health and loves that Starlight’s programs help kids experience the joy of childhood because "every child deserves to lighten their load; to have fun, laugh, play and be in the moment."
"Starlight delivers laughter to sick kids every single day. It’s ingrained in everyone who works there."
Now a Mum to Poppy and Edwina, Libby's now studying to become a teacher and we thank Libby for her continued, genuine support of Starlight.
It's been such an amazing journey with Starlight. It's such an honour to endorse Starlight. I love that Starlight creates such a happy and positive atmosphere for the kids â and even if that escape is just for a moment, those positive distractions do wonders to their mental wellbeing.Libby Trickett, Starlight Ambassador
