Hayden has seen first-hand the difference Starlight programs make, when his sister Madi was fighting cancer and was granted a Starlight Wish. For Madi’s wish, Hayden’s family was flown to Queensland for a much-needed holiday.
"When Madi received her Starlight Wish it was just a great chance for the whole family to be away without any worries. It was the trip of a lifetime for three young kids and made our family feel 'normal' again, after years of stress and worry," he said.
Hayden became a household name in 2011 as a contestant in Series 3 of MasterChef Australia. Since then, he has become one of Australia's favourite media personalities.
Hayden has since become a friendly face on Australian television as a judge on Nine's Family Food Fight (2017), a co-host on ABC's Surfing the Menu - Next Generation, and has also dabbled in writing as the proud author of cookbook Dish It Up, co-author of Surfing the Menu - Next Generation and a regular contributor to delicious magazine.
In 2018 he launched the podcast 'The Roving Mic' where he interviews interesting guests with unique lives and is also a proud partner at The Cube Gym in Sydney.
Hayden has been a proud and enthusiastic Starlight Ambassador since 2013 and over the years has given a lot of his time to support Starlight's programs including opening the refurbished Starlight Express Room at the Children's Hospital at Westmead in 2016, Star-BQs for Starlight Day 2016, helping seriously ill teenagers 'graduate' from the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick in 2018, and fundraising for Starlight with his family in 'Meet Me in the Middle' - a fun walk across Sydney in 2017.
Each year Hayden also generously donates his time through auctioning off awesome auction prizes for our signature fundraising events Starlight Five Chefs and Starball. We are so thankful for his generous support helping sick kids and young people!
All you have to do is walk into one of the Starlight Express rooms to know what makes it special. Seeing kids smiling and laughing and enjoying themselves away from their hospital beds...It's really quite special to see the huge impact it can have.Hayden Quinn, Starlight Ambassador
