TV Presenter/Media Personality

Carissa in Starlight Express Room

Music has always been part of family life for Carissa, so she says a career in the performing arts was her destiny (and one she relishes every day!). From a young age Carissa was involved in dance, singing and acting, taking lessons and performing on stage as often as possible. As her dance career took flight, Carissa toured Australia and travelled across Asia performing in various shows.

Her musical background and outgoing personality led to her role as a presenter on Fox Sports Fuel TV then onto resident host on Channel [V]. Carissa was also a producer and writer on The Riff and a regular guest on radio popping up on NOVA and 2DayFM to share the latest in all things pop, music and culture. More recently, Carissa had her own weekly pop culture-inspired show [V] Trending, airing on Foxtel.

Carissa has fronted major live music events including Optus Rock and as a self-confessed fashionista, has hosted Sydney Fashion TV and many other fashion festivals and events.

Whether singing, dancing, acting or presenting, Carissa's abundant energy and enthusiasm are always on show. And it's these qualities she brings to her role as a Starlight Ambassador. Carissa said it's been great getting more involved. "Starlight has always been a foundation that has resonated with me. I find it so rewarding seeing the smiles that Captain Starlight brings to the kids."

Carissa regularly joins in on the fun, craft and games at the Starlight Express Room at the Children's Hospital in Westmead, where she entertained the kids with her dance troop in her younger years, and in 2016, helped to open the refurbished space. "The Starlight Express Room is such a fun place where you really forget hospital reality as soon as you step in," she said.

She has also helped grant an ARIAs-inspired Starlight Wish for a teenage girl in 2015. Carissa is also passionate about Livewire and helping teens find creative ways to express themselves. She says she loves that Livewire lets everyone share their stories. "These conversations can inspire and give strength to others which is so vital for mental health and wellbeing."

And a little secret about Carissa? "I've always wanted to be a Captain Starlight myself!"
