Starlight Children's Foundation (Starlight) is hosting its annual Christmas Party in the Starlight Connection Space at Alice Springs Hospital on Tuesday 3rd December, where sick kids and teens can enjoy an afternoon of festive fun with Captain Starlight.

Featuring a Bunnings BBQ in the hospital courtyard, Christmas face painting, craft, and a special visit from Santa Claus himself, it will be a day of fun and games for sick kids and teens spending the holiday season in hospital.

Serious illness and hospitalisation can steal the joy of childhood. That's where Starlight steps in, to give happiness to sick kids when they need it most.

There is a Starlight presence in every major children's hospital in Australia and each month children and families make over 14,000 visits to Starlight Express Rooms across Australia.

This December, over 44,000 sick kids are expected to be admitted to children's hospitals nationally.

At Alice Springs Hospital alone, Starlight will deliver 700 positive Starlight experiences for sick kids and teens during the festive season, through Starlight Connection Space visits and Captain Starlight 'Rocket Rounds' for kids too sick to leave their ward beds.

Captain Starlight also travels to regional and remote areas across the Northern Territory, visiting almost 700 children every month, as part of Starlight's Healthier Futures Initiative.

Captain Starlights are professional performers who use their skills in comedy, acting, music and art to entertain sick kids. While health professionals focus on treating illness, Captain Starlight delivers positive healthcare promotion that helps to prevent illness and improve wellbeing, in a culturally appropriate way.

Starlight relies on the community for support. Every $39 will provide a sick child with access to its vital hospital services, and keep programs running seven days a week.

Starlight is hoping to raise $741 000 to help give happiness to sick kids during the festive season.
