June is Workplace Giving Month and we're celebrating all the amazing organisations that offer workplace giving programs to their staff. We're also proud to be part of the One Million Donors campaign to support the goal of reaching One Million Australians donating through the workplace by 2020. Workplace giving works because it's simple, sustainable and very effective.

Here's why.

Workplace giving is the most cost-effective way for employees to give to the causes they care about. Donating automatically through payroll is the ultimate in convenience and retains all the tax benefits of charitable giving.

For staff at leading law firm King & Wood Mallesons, the convenience of workplace giving is a huge drawcard.

Solicitor Luke Hawthorne said, "There's no simpler way for our staff and partners to support the charities they're passionate about than through workplace giving."

King & Wood Mallesons have helped us grant 110 life-changing Starlight Wishes to sick kids through their Workplace Giving program.

Luke said staff love seeing the impact of their support and it helps build a strong sense of connection between the firm and the community. "It's such a great feeling to see the tangible difference we can make both as individuals and as a firm," he said. "To know so many sick kids have had their Starlight Wishes granted is just fantastic."

That collective impact is the real power behind workplace giving and it shows staff that every donation no matter how big or small makes a real difference.

To amplify the impact of their support, many employers like King & Wood Mallesons match staff donations dollar for dollar. This is a great way to further encourage and support participation in workplace giving and it doubles the impact of every donation. That means more happy sick kids!

Studies also show that staff who are contributing to the community feel more engaged in their work and are proud of their organisation for offering workplace giving.

This is a sentiment echoed at King & Wood Mallesons: "We feel such a sense of team pride supporting Starlight through workplace giving, it really motivates people to participate," Luke said.

If your organisation doesn't have workplace giving, now's the time to start. Make pay day pay dividends for your business, your people and the community!
