More fun for sick kids thanks to Perth Starlight Five Chefs Dinner
"When the world is crashing down around you and the future is unknown, it is essential to be able to find happiness. Starlight is that shining light in the face of trauma. A huge heartfelt thanks to all the donors and supporters for changing peoples’ lives for the better."
These were the moving words 12-year-old Jarrah's mum Rebecca shared with guests at WA's Starlight Five Chefs Dinner held at the Pan Pacific Perth.
Jarrah's life-changing Starlight Wish was only made possible thanks to events like Starlight Five Chefs Dinners which raise vital funds to support seriously ill children.
The night started with a beautiful Welcome to Country thanks to Olman Walley, a proud Whadjuk Noognar man.
Starlight Five Chefs Dinners are renowned for exceptional food and wine.
Our warmest thanks to our incredible line-up of chefs in Perth - Ben Day, Alejandro Saravia, Charlie Vargas, Matt Lonne and Aaron Carr with Lisa Taylor who generously gave their time to create an outstanding dining experience. Thanks also to Jerry Fraser and the Pan Pacific Perth for mouthwatering oysters and canapés!
We are also thankful for the support of our 2019 Perth Wine Partners - Anon Tasmania, Evans & Tate and Smithbrook from the Fogarty Wine group, along with Aravina Estate, Cape Mentelle.
To our Presenting Partner Virgin Australia, National Partner Vittoria Coffee and WA State Event Sponsor Aigle Royal, the event simply could not happen without your generous support.
In his welcome note, WA State Advisory Board President Jack Cullity thanks guests for their support helping to bring fun and happiness to sick and hospitalised kids.
"We come together to help raise much needed funds for children and families facing the most serious of times. Against the backdrop of the extraordinary food and wine experience now synonymous with Starlight Five Chefs Dinners, we look forward to sharing the serious impact Starlight can deliver with your valued support."
We were delighted to have Ross Walman - a familiar voice from Perth radio - generously MC the event, along with our amazing Auctioneer Stuart Gregor.
Big thank you also to Nathan Cavaleri for providing the evening's wonderful entertainment and sharing his own Starlight story, which highlighted the lasting impact a Starlight Wish has on the life of a seriously child.
Nathan was just six years old when he was tragically diagnosed with leukaemia. Amid all the pain and sadness, he was granted a Starlight Wish. Looking back, he said his wish had an incredible impact on his life and gave him the motivation to keep fighting.
Starlight Five Chefs Dinners only happen because of the support and commitment from so many people including our suppliers, partners and teams of smiling volunteers.
Nearly all aspects of the event are donated which means majority of the funds raised go directly towards Starlight's vital programs.
Thank you Perth, for a night of serious fun helping seriously ill children and teenagers!
